Woven background with Color Kaleidoscope collection | American Crafts DT

Hi, Ladies! Today I would like to share with you a fun and super easy technique I never used before! This idea was in my minds for a while, and I was so happy to bring it into alive finally:) Fortunately, it was easy to find the perfect collection for this project... I used the amazingly colorful and pretty Color Kaleidoscope collection by Vicki Boutin.

My idea was to create a colorful, textured background with combining weaving techniques with traditional scrapbooking elements. To do this, I chose a fun pre-made mixed media paper from the 12x12 paper pad and covered the whole surface with tulle. I used my stitching machine to attach the tulle to the paper.

Next, I grabbed colorful bulky yards from my stash and embroidered weaving inspired patterns on the tulle using a big, plastic needle. I watched some weaving tapestry tutorials on youtube and chose some basic patterns I could easily apply on tulle. I was super happy with the colorful, textured result!

Then, I added my photo to the right side using foam tape and arranged flowers and leaves around. I placed the 'Be Colorful' sentiment from the puffy sticker sheet to the center and adhered cute bird sticker under. I used Glossy Accent glue to fix the letters to the tulle. On the right side, I created a cluster using mostly fussy cut flowers and ephemera pieces.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope I could inspire you to try new techniques on your scrapbooking projects.
