Birthday Mini Album with Sparkle City collection | American Crafts DT

Hello everybody! I have a new mini album to share today using the lovely Sparkle City collection by Shimelle. This collection is so colorful and happy, I was immediately inspired to create a fun birthday mini album for my daughter, who turns 9 this month.

My idea was to create a birthday cake shaped mini album using two bookbinding rings and square pages. My daughter loved this idea and asked me to create one in every year so she will have a whole cake some in a couple of years. :)

With this idea in my mind, I created a cut file and cut out the cake form from patterned paper. I folded the edges to create the cake shape. I trimmed a 2x3" chipboard paper piece, covered with patterned paper and adhered to the inner side of the spine to make the cover stronger.

Next, I used my Crop-A-Dile to add 4 eyelets to the spine and added the two rings. I adhered patterned paper to the inner side of the cover and placed a thin magnet between them to keep close my album. Then I cut out the bow and adhered to the top of the cover with some labels, and added washi tape to imitate the layers of the cake.

When finished I started to print out some cute photo of my little girl from this year and trimmed 3x3" and 3x3,5" paper pieces for the pages.

I embellished the pages with stickers, chipboard stickers, and foam stickers, and also added hand stitching and machine stitching.

I placed the pages into my album and added my journaling.

This mini album was so much fun to create, and I hope I could inspire you to create something fun and happy using the new Sparkle City collection! Don't forget to tag me (@beavalint) if you use my cur file because I'm more than happy to see your creations!! Have a nice day! Bea
